Continuing Education Students

Financial Aid

Continuing education students may apply for federal financial aid, including federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • The FAFSA must be filed for each academic year (July 1 to June 30).
  • 亚洲博彩平台排名's school code is 003411.
  • You must sign the FAFSA electronically using the FSA ID you create through the Department of Education website. Learn how to create an FSA ID.

Eligibility

To be eligible for financial aid at 亚洲博彩平台排名, continuing education students must:

  • Be a citizen or legal resident of the United States.
  • Be enrolled at least half-time (two courses/six credits per semester) and be accepted as a candidate in a degree- or certificate-granting program at the University (conditionally accepted and non-matriculating students are not eligible for financial aid). Pell Grant-eligible students may be eligible for a Pell Grant only if less than half-time status.
  • Make satisfactory progress toward the completion of the course of study.
  • Not be in default on federal loans.
  • Not owe a refund on a federal grant.

Verification Requirements

The Department of Education may select you for a process called verification. If you are selected, you may have to submit additional information, and you will be notified by the Department of Education and our office as to what documents are needed.

Required Steps

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): The federal form for continuing education students to apply for financial aid.
  • Master promissory note: A legal document in which you promise to repay your loan(s) and any accrued interest and fees. The master promissory note is usually valid for up to 10 years.
  • Entrance counseling: Ensures you understand the terms and conditions of your loan and your rights and responsibilities.
  • Register for courses: Continuing education students must be enrolled at least half time (six credits) each semester to be eligible for federal financial aid.

After Your Financial Aid File is Complete

Continuing education students must be enrolled at least half time each semester to be eligible for federal financial aid. Pell Grant-eligible students may be eligible for a Pell Grant only if less than half-time status.

  • Students who are registered for six credits for the fall semester and six credits for the spring semester are considered and awarded as half time.
  • Students who are registered for 12 credits for the fall semester and 12 credits for the spring semester are considered and awarded as full time.
  • Students who are registered for three credits in the summer session must be registered for at least six credits in the spring and summer semester to be eligible for summer federal student loans.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

A cumulative GPA of 2.0 and successful completion of 67% of cumulative attempted credits is required to receive financial aid. Students whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 or who complete less than 67% of cumulative credits at the end of any given academic year will be placed on academic probation for the following semester. To be eligible for financial aid during this period, students must send a letter of appeal to the director of financial aid to request consideration to receive a probationary semester of financial aid. If approved, students will receive one additional semester of financial aid if they meet other qualifications.

Loan Amounts

Loan amounts per semester are based on federal independent and dependent student maximums. Continuing education students are awarded per semester based on the number of credits the student is registered for.

We strongly encourage you to only borrow what you need to avoid the possibility of exhausting your federal student loan eligibility for the full academic year. If you would like to change your financial aid offer to increase your loan amount (not to exceed your maximum eligibility), you may do so by emailing our office.

If you wish to decline or reduce any part of your loan, you must complete a financial aid award change form or notify your financial aid counselor using your 亚洲博彩平台排名 email address.
